Call for Artist Proposals, Texas Tech University System

Founded in 1923 as Texas Technological College, Texas Tech University has the distinction of being the largest comprehensive higher education institution in the western two-thirds of the state of Texas.

The Texas Tech University System is accepting proposals for artists to create exterior designs for art to ornament a large brick wall on the Exercise Sports Sciences building and adjacent to the Art 3-D Annex in Lubbock, TX. The artists are invited to propose an outdoor artwork that will consist of two components: a (more or less) 2-D piece that “wraps” the southwest corner of the exterior of the Exercise Sports Sciences multipurpose building, and a peripheral, but visually-related element in the seating area outside the Art 3-D Annex next door The public art budget is $90,000 and should be all inclusive.

Proposals must be received (not postmarked) by December 18, 2012 at 10:30 am. Finalists will receive an honorarium of up to $1500 for travel and design expenses.
