  1. It is really heartening to hear the sense of concern about this building!Revue Cinema, a 97-year-old historic movie house is still rock steady.OK.Folks lets preserve such type of buildings as an asset!

  2. I would like to suggest that the heritage Leon’s and 1000’s of historical wooden telegraph poles be added to the list.

  3. Nominees have to be submitted by the owner or architect, or else they are not considered.

  4. It’s funny that the lead photo is of the old Don Jail, because its owner, Bridgepoint Health, wants to demolish the nearby Riverdale Hospital, a Modernist gem.

  5. Demolition is about to start on an historic School at the corner of Runnymede and John. This is currently an extended care facility that is being replaced by a new building that was built on the existing park that served the facility. So we are losing a historic building and green space. Will we ever learn.

Other historic buildings in this neighborhood are getting the developement treatment. These include a TTC substation building at 568 Annette (will be torn down for condo). The church at the corner of High Park Blvd and Annette which will probably end up as condos. The old Victoria Royce church has had its interior all but stripped and is being reconfigured for condos thereby obliterating the magnificent interior.

I applaud these awards but can buildings in peril also be recognized!
