High and tight helmetless haircuts abound in this Smiths’ video of Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before. I had never given much thought to how Morissey got around Manchester in his day, but after seeing this video for the first time in (15?) years, a bike would make sense. He and his pals are also the archetype for those hipster kids you see riding their bikes around Toronto now with their weaved baskets and pouty expressions, but maybe they don’t know it. If only they could use a hairdryer like these young anti-Thatcherites could.

We posted Rush’s Subdivisions video back in September, shot in and around Toronto. For those who wondered what happened to the kid who starred in the video, his wife recently posted an update.

  1. Is there any known connection between The Smiths and the Situationists? I could imagine Morissey hanging out with Guy Debord.

  2. All hail Moz.

p.s. bikes are cool, disdain for hipsters aside.

  3. duncan> dunno. I always like the Smiths and Morrissey’s geographic references.

ryan> bikes are cool. dunno about hipsters though, kind of hedonistic and conservative.

  4. Wow. The fact that I, also, get around the provincial English city in which I live exclusively by bicycle just got a whole lot cooler.
