If following the growing panic over H1N1 doesn’t hold the same appeal for you as Montreal’s recent election campaign, there’s another major Montreal story that will soon come to a head : the future of the Turcot Interchange. Within the next two weeks, the Ministry of the Environment will release its recommendations to the government on the future of this aging infrastructure. Will it be re-built bigger to accommodate more cars, or will the growing voices of community groups, urban planners and even Mayor Tremblay himself, prevail?

Spacing Montreal is teaming up with McGill’s Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) to present a carnivalesque evening of highway trivia, movie-mashups and other lively activities to inform and entertain Montrealers about the Turcot and the circus that is the highway construction industry. It will also include the unveiling of a new website examining the MTQ’s plan and the alternative vision being proposed.

The event will be held this Wednesday, November 4 7 pm at O Ciel, located at 3255 St. Jacques (across from Lionel Groulx metro). Wine and cheese and whiskey and cider will also be served.

If you use Facebook RSVP for the event here.
