From the Toronto Architectural Conservancy:
The former psychiatric hospital on Lakeshore Road in Etobicoke will be the location of our annual summer walk. The excellent restoration programme is nearing completion and it is an appropriate time to revisit this fabulous campus, now in part the home to some Humber College art departments and programs such as jazz.
The “cottages†as they are called, were the High Victorian brainchild of Doctor Daniel Clark (see Keefer’s paper in The Provincial Asylum), former superintendent of the Queen Street institution. Many who visit the grounds for recreation have offered that they find the site to be one of the most innervating in the province. They always leave renewed and refreshed. So Clark working with architect Kivas Tully and his team at Provincial Public Works worked their magic to perfection. Hope we see you rain or shine. Take the Longbranch-bound 501 streetcar. Or at Kipling Station go south by 44 bus (one leaves at 1PM).
Sunday, August 12th, 2007 @ 1:30pm
Meet at the NORTH WEST corner of Kipling and Lakeshore.
A Toronto Architectural Conservancy free presentation.
