More than three weeks after the high-rise fire at 200 Wellesley Street East, more than 600 of the building’s tenants are still shut out of their homes.

Despite Toronto Community Housing’s announcement today that residents in the building that caught fire on September 24 will not have to pay rent in November, many tenants are in dire need of support.

At our release party earlier this month, Spacing readers and supporters donated $420 to the Toronto Community Foundation’s 200 Wellesley Street East Relief Fund via a charity raffle. On behalf of all of us at Spacing, thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle, and thanks to AutoShare, Ben McNally Books, Coach House Books, Cormorant Books, MacIntyre Purcell, Douglas & McIntyre, and the Toronto Public Library for donating prizes.
