Next week one of our favorite events of the year, the Heritage Toronto Awards, is happening on October 5th. Usually held at the Carlu, this year the awards will be at The Royal Conservatory of Music’s new Koerner Hall (giving some of us who’ve not yet seen this room a good excuse to visit). Though ostensibly about the past, the awards and their annual William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture always prove to be much more about the future of Toronto and city building. This year’s talk, by Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Peter Oundjian, is called “Notes on Toronto” and looks at music’s role in creating our city’s soundscape. Head over to the Heritage Toronto site to see a list of nominees (plus pictures) and get ticket information.
