Wild Capitalism Hunting Games in Calgary

I’m in Calgary for the Art City festival. We’ve set up three [murmur] sites out here. Calgary isn’t the place I thought it was. Very car oriented and in that sense private — not a lot of places to bump into other people. But when I have, the people I’ve met here have changed what I thought about this place. Lots of good things going on, like this Art City with lots of pieces of public-ish art stuff.

ATSA (Action Terroriste Socialement Acceptable), the group from Montreal who set up the bombed out SUV in Dundas Square a few months ago, are here as well and they set up a hunting blind in Calgary’s Olympic Square. Visitors can shoot water pistols at various corporations like Haliburton — the sort of companies that have been hunting us, or our wallets, for years. When they were just finishing setting up on Thursday evening, a fellow walked by and lectured us on how all this is overturning the Hegelian dialectic. Calgary is interesting.
