  1. I’m curious as to how many people participate. On the other hand, I got tired of the Toronto Star running a front-page headline every time a KFC franchise decides that they are going to dim their lights for an hour.

  2. I must commend WWF for the incredible free media they obtained around the world.Even the most hardened activist must be envious of that kind of press coverage.
Bob Rae said it best in an interview with Peter Mansbridge, vision isn’t enough you have to be able to rally the people in a leadership role to be effective. He later said that is why he left,or the NDP left him because they had become stagnant and irrelevant.

    disclaimer follows:
(or words to that effect, approved by legal advice)(allegedly),(possibly),(as I feel I heard it but may not be exactly as posted, please refer to actual text for exact comments etc etc etc)(refers to cbc interview,Peter Mansbridge)

  3. “the NDP hasn’t evolved” for those who want the exact quote, but The green party will definitely be boosted by earth day.

And so they should they are a party evolving with the times and are bringing forth the issues that matter. This movement will allow the price hike of gasoline so that we stop using our vehicles. It will allow a steep hike in the price of “dirty power”

Bullfrog power costs more than toronto hydro rates. It should be the opposite. We should pay three to four times more for “dirty power”.This will ensure that the lights are out everyday and not just for one day a year.
Then of course since Gord Perks pointed out to me that his numbers show that people in this city don’t mind paying more taxes, well then let’s just get to work and raise those taxes and get transit on its way. Buy new streetcars and buses, build the LRT lines needed. We can worry about the costs later, in the meantime borrow the money, most in the public don’t mind paying interest they do so with their credit cards and mortgages anyway.Just think of the payments for student loans, no complaints there, students are more than happy to pay for their education.

So we have learned a valuable lesson with Earth Hour, let’s just get started and stop making the feeble excuse that we have no money,THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!!And please support the rebuilding of Dukes cycle our future depends on reliable bicycles.
