Empire Fields and Plateau Sports Park is 15 acres of new and renewed sport, recreation and playground spaces that was completed in the spring of 2015. The $10.5 million construction is a significant outcome of the Hastings Park/PNE Master Plan and delivers on community and Park Board priorities for new park space and improvements in pedestrian and bicycle paths.

Exercise helps people lose weight and lower the risk of some diseases. Exercising regularly decreases a person’s risk of developing certain diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. Exercise can help a person age well. This may not seem important now, but your body will thank you later

New park features include parkour, bike skills park, table tennis, slate pool tables, volleyball and basketball courts, fitness area, playground, two full-sized synthetic turf soccer fields and a running track. Greenways for walking and cycling connect this park space to the rest of Hastings Park, New Brighton Park and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The opening celebration will take place on Saturday July 18, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

The opening celebration will include parkour, volleyball, BMX and skateboard demonstrations, tournaments, and sports drop-in sessions for all ages.
