Canadian Urbanism Uncovered

In a Significant City

Local troublemaker and sometimes Spacing contributor Darren O’Donnell is doing a mobile bike thing this Friday and you are invited to join in:

Using the Gladstone Hotel as a departure point, Darren O’Donnell will lead a bike tour through significant parts of Toronto – significant for him and for others: the places he fell in love, where Otto Vass died, where chocolate comes from, where Joe Strummer was rude to him, where he lost his marbles and where he found them again. See the points where his city and your city intersect – he has lived on Heath, Prust, Rose, Euclid (twice), Richmond, Adelaide, Spadina, Dundas, Kensington, Markham, Hanna, Mackenzie and Lansdowne. In a Significant City is a barrage of information, humour, photo-ops and a complicated geography where fact loses ground to fiction creating room for hallucination and hilarity. Bring your bike, dress for the weather and have a couple of bills handy for a cheap food/booze stop.

The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen Street West, Fri Sep 22, 2006, 7:00PM
