On Monday evening, Spacing magazine and Eye Weekly are teaming up to bring you The Political Party, an event that brings together Toronto’s leading mayoral candidates. Mayor David Miller and challenger Jane Pitfield will outline their visions for Toronto’s public spaces and face pointed questions from our panel of John Lorinc (urban affairs journalist for Toronto Life, Globe and Mail, Spacing Votes), Ed Keenan (Eye Weekly City editor), and Dale Duncan (Spacing managing editor).

Following the mayoral event will be an old-fashioned rock n’ roll show with special musical guests HOT ONE.

Hot One is a New York—Toronto band featuring local indie-rock icon Emm Gyrner, former Shudder to Think lead guitarist (and performer of the Boys Don’t Cry theme) Nathan Larson, Guided by Voices drummer Kevin March, and guitarist Jordan Kerr. Last month Magnet magazine said: “glammy, hammy and a lot of fun … lip-smackingly decadent … the Hot One Army is going to have no trouble filling its ranks.” Spin magazine, in the “Hey, This is Awesome” section of the website, says “Hot One Conduct a ‘Coup’ — you might just want to dance until you overthrow something.”
