Walking Life: Call for Submissions

Read more articles by

Walking Life will be a month-long exhibit showcasing work created both by artists and community members that celebrates the experience of walking. The exhibit will take place at The Gladstone Hotel beginning early September and is being held in conjunction with the international Walk21 conference that the City is hosting in early October.

Walking Life is looking for submissions by artists, designers and members of the community. We are also looking for volunteers.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

*who can enter*
Artists, designers, bakers, woodworkers, transit operators, moms, dads, youths, walking enthusiasts… walking life is open to everyone!

Unfortunately, we will not be able to pay artist’s fees for works exhibited. An honorarium may be available.

*what can be entered*
While the space available is primarily for wall-hung pieces, we will consider works in all types of media. We encourage all artists to discuss their concepts with us via email (walkinglifeexhibit@gmail.com) in addition to submitting a proposal. You will need to discuss with us if you’re contemplating using non-wall-hung media.

*how to enter*
Send your proposal via email to: walkinglifeexhibit@gmail.com

Please submit:
– Your proposal — one paragraph, including dimensions, medium, size, and dates of the works.
– Digital images or media files (if applicable) with corresponding list indicating title, medium, size and dates of the works.
– A brief biography — one paragraph, to be displayed next to your work.

Deadline for proposal submissions: August 20th
** However, the earlier we are aware of your intention to participate (even if all the details of your piece are not yet figured out), the greater your chance of securing space in the exhibit! **

*what next?*
The curators will contact successful candidates via email.

Volunteers are needed, too – anyone interested in lending a hand, please send us an email!
