Subway delayed, new tramway hits Casablanca

Read more articles by

Casablanca has unveiled a new tramway system that connects the east and west ends of the city through the downtown core.

The $1.6 billion project has seen an estimated 1.2 million passengers since its opening in the middle of December 2012.

The tramway is a light-rail-like system that was built to help reduce congestion and pollution.

Casablanca has a longstanding subway plan that has yet to be built and despite the new transit, there is still much work to be done.
