The City of Toronto has declared October to be the “Toronto Walking Festival”. The idea is to link together all of the many walking events that take place in October, from Nuit Blanche to Hallowe’en, into a celebration of walking.

The Walking Festival is being launched with a short walk starting from City Hall at noon on Thursday, looking at various pedestrian environments and ideas in the area, such as the new “scramble” intersection at Yonge and Dundas. Various city divisions whose work relates to walking will also be on hand to talk about their programs. Free pedometers will be distributed, too.
